Gerda Steiner Monthly Challenge – January 2015

This month Gerda provided us with this adorable Daschund digital image to create with.  I printed the image off on Strathmore 140lb. watercolor paper.  The card panel was cut with the largest stitched rectangle from Lawn Fawn.  I then used my distress markers and ink pads to color the image and background.  I love how the sky turned out.  It really looks like clouds floating through the air!  I was disappointed in the color of the heart balloon because it was supposed to be purple and ended up looking like pink.  Oh well – still super cute!  I used the clear Wink of Stella marker to add glitter to the heart balloon and then covered it in Glossy Accents.  I also added glossy accents to the dog’s nose.  I also stamped the sentiment using Violet’s ABCs from Lawn Fawn and Versafine Black Onyx ink.

Thanks Gerda for another great digital image!

Unity Be Inspired Challenge 2

My second card uses Mittens, Cocoa and Hearts from Unity Stamp Company.  I used a piece of patterned paper from the Simon Says Stamp Company January card kit/Bo Bunny paper collection included in the kit.  I used some sparkling H2O water colors (which the camera does not do the colors justice) and my Kuretake watercolors.  I tied a piece of light blue twine around the front of the card and popped up the focal image with some 3M foam tape.

Unity Be Inspired Challenge

I have created two cards for the Monthly Unity Be Inspired Challenge.  I am super excited about this month’s challenge because it requires some of my favorite colors.  I also just received two stamps from Unity.  Great quality, great customer service.  Can’t wait to get more products from Unity.  My oldest daughter and I also would like to visit New London sometime soon and maybe they will let us come tour their company:)

My first card uses Beautiful Soul by Unity.  I used Strathmore watercolor paper (140 lb.) and Kuretake watercolor (24 color set).   I added various gemstones to the left side of the card from Recollections.

December 10, 2014 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I am super excited to participate in the December 10, 2014 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  The card that I created used a digital stamp (first time using one).  The stamp is called “Cafe Lizzie” and I purchased it from Whimsie Doodles.  This image was colored with Copic markers.  I added some white polka dots to her tights with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.  This is the first time that I have colored hair like this too.  Not too bad, if I do say so myself.  The card base is Nina Solar White 110 pound card stock.  The snow drift is cut from the same weight card stock with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Boarder using the negative side so there wasn’t any stitching.  I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and the Mini Ink Blending Tool from Tim Holtz to add some color to the snow drift.  The background pattern paper is from Papertrey Ink.  I added some 4mm Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.    I also added the sentiment on the coffee cup and that is from Newton’s Nook Flaky Family.

I have another card in the process.  I just didn’t have time to finish it up right away.  I hope to complete that card and link it as well.

Thanks Amy Tsuruta for all of your work putting this blog hop together and for gathering sponsors!  This is a great way to gear up for Christmas!  Here is the InLinkz link.

Moving Again!

Hello All!  We move tomorrow (11/22/14).  Hoping all goes smoothly.  Once I am settled, I am hoping to have a better set up for taking pictures of my cards and someday make my own videos.  Happy Friday to all!

Upcoming Case Study Anniversary

As I have been learning more about paper crafting and finding inspiration on the internet, I have come across this great “Case Study” group that sends out frequent emails to inspire and challenge.  They have an upcoming blog hop anniversary and I wanted to share that information.  Here is the 411…

Whatsup July?

Happy July!  The weather in Minnesota is unseasonably cool.  It feels more like fall than summer!

I just received a stamp and die haul from i Heart Papers.  They had a moving sale and I was able to purchase some Lawn Fawn sets that I have been wanting.  Last night I was able to work on some cards.  I am making a batch of the same card to use for a card swap at the Rochester Scrapbooking Company.  I will post a picture of one of them soon.  I used inspiration from Dawn at for a slider card and then incorporated the theme “celebrate” into it.  Lots of fun!

I am looking forward to working on some more card creations this evening after my church group.

New to Blogging

So here I am at 38 years old feeling like I am reinventing myself again.  I used to do quite a bit of paper crafting and then life kind of got in the way.  I have since picked up the tools of this art again and am totally in love with all of the new products, techniques and tools.  What an amazing online community there is too!

One of the main companies that I am swooning over is Lawn Fawn!  I have been able to create the best cards using their stamps, dies, and ideas that they provide on their YouTube channel and also by all of those other creative beings out there.

I would thoroughly enjoy being a part of a design team or the Lawnscaping Challenge Team.  However, I just received an email calling out for individuals to be a part of the Facebook Inspiration Team (FIT).  I think that would be so much fun!

I am going to attempt to keep this blog going and add pictures of my card creations.  Stay tuned…
